13th Station of the Sacred Heart: Thomas places his hand into Jesus' Side

Thirteenth Station

Thomas places his hand into Jesus’ side
Heart of Jesus desires to be touched and to show mercy.

We Adore you O Lord and we love You
-Because by Your Sacred Heart You have made manifest Your Love

Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.” Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me?Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”Jn 20:24-29

Reflection:

His Heart is open.  His Body is resurrected.  Yet, there is still doubt among his closest followers.  Thomas places not just his finger, but his hand into the side of Christ. A man’s hand.  A hand grasping for physical proof, reaching out from a heart grasping for love.  This hand finds itself touching the beating heart of Christ.  Yes, Thomas drops to his knees and believes for he has just felt the pulsations of Divine Love in a heart pierced and raised from the dead. Here is the mercy of God, as He has reminded us through the revelations to St. Faustina.  Trust in Me and you too will feel the pulsations of my Heart, of my Divine Love.

Prayer:
Oh Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in You
